Our client is located in Bicester which is easily accessible from major routes. They're a well-established manufacturing brand that has built their reputation on the quality of products, the service delivery and the efficiency in their project delivery. In recognition of their strong brand and continued growth, we're recruiting for a Technical Leader to join their vibrant team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual. The business takes pride in their project support whilst remaining at the forefront in their client solutions. This could lead to longer term contract opportunities with our client. You'll be part of the Project Team, ensure achievement of objectives in terms of scheduling of meetings, optimization of costs and management of the resources involved, making it possible to implement the best technical solutions (in terms of homogeneity, standardization, and compliance with requirements).

Applies industry knowledge and experience to manage projects from quoting phase to handover for commissioning. Utilizes planning, resource, and task management skills to direct control engineering staff in successful implementation of project assignments.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Estimate the costs of technical solution and resources for pricing of design variants
• Plan project technical activities and staffing (times, costs)
• Coordinate internal/external technical activities and persons involved in the project
• Ensure compliance with customer requirements
• Achieve objectives; time, quality, and costs. Track and submit reports on progress of the project
• Provide technical support in the assembly, installation (equipment) and prototyping (product) phases and technical assistance at the customer site
• Coordinate resources for manufacturing/integration/commissioning operations with the Site Manager
• Identify possible areas of improvement
• Interfaces with customer to finalize design requirements, reviews, and approvals throughout design phase

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of machines and tools / controls. An understanding of mechanical system / controls design.
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
• Ability to write technical documents and reports for use as reference by engineering and technical writers as well as documentation for the project.
• Ability to read, analyse, and interpret customer specifications, electrical controls schematics, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
• Ability to train and mentor other Technical Leaders, Automation, Mechanical or Control Engineers.

  • Identifying measures or indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the system.
  • Performing day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork.
• Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
• Analysing needs and product requirements to create a design.
• Writing computer programs for various purposes.
• Providing documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to tell others about how devices, parts, equipment, or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained, or used.
• Inspecting (field check) equipment in preparation for adding, removing, or modifying existing designs / equipment.
• Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
• Understand and comply with corporate and customer processes and procedures.
