Senior Category Manager


Circa £55 - 60k plus car allowance & benefits

Our client is a leading Data Services provider associated with Gas utilities. In recognition of their strong brand and continued growth, we're recruiting for a Senior Category Manager to join their vibrant team.

The successful candidate will support the Head of Procurement develop the three to five year procurement strategy , category approaches and plan including As Is and Future Mapping of spend, markets, supply chain risk, demand, PEST and portfolio analytics.

We're looking for a candidate with demonstratable experience 5+ years in managing third parties within formal governance framework, supplier relationship management, service performance management.

In this role you will:

  • Develop the overall category management strategy and roadmap with design and implementation of best practice

  • Deliver fit for purpose toolsets to ensure effective category management techniques are employed and embedded within the Category Management team

  • Review major investment decisions and determine potential impacts to suppliers and category spend

  • Oversee the portfolio of procurement events, in alignment with the strategic sourcing plan, providing direction to Category Managers

  • Support contract negotiation strategies which result in favourable commercial and contractual terms and conditions, in conjunction with the Contract Management and Legal teams as required

  • Provide category management and sourcing expertise to Contract Management and Legal teams to support contract development/alterations

  • Ensure that risk allocation is appropriate for the requirement and that any transfer of risk and its potential consequences are clearly understood and mitigated

  • Deliver cost reduction commitments, as directed by the Head of Procurement through the identification, development and execution of category plans, purchasing activities and initiatives in-line with the broader team and organisational objectives

  • Actively identify, assess, mitigate and manage complex problems, risks and/or issues associated with high value, high risk or complex bought-in services

  • Drive continuous improvement in the Procurement team through developing and implementing efficiencies such as, standardised tools, practices and procedures to reduce the quotation, RFP and decision making and evaluation time

  • Co-ordinate contract tendering procedures ensuring compliance with applicable company policies (including, tender and contract documentation, tender process, contract award and contract administration) providing direction to Category Managers as required

£55,000–£60,000 per annum

£30,000–£35,000 per annum

£12.00–£14.00 per hour

£28,000–£32,000 per annum
