QUALITY & DESIGN ENGINEER - (WITHIN BRITISH MOTORSPORT)
HOURS: MONDAY -FRIDAY 7:30-16:00
THE CANDIDATE WILL BE:
An experienced design engineer who has good understanding of general engineering principles and light alloy fabrication for cooling systems and associated components.
SolidWorks experience and knowledge is essential.
Have an excellent understanding of engineering drawings and interpreting single part and multiple part assemblies.
Experience working on projects from conception to completion would be advantageous.
Experience working on projects with customers in the automotive and aerospace industry would also be advantageous.
Attention to detail when reviewing drawings, specifications and dimensional reports.
Understanding of fluid dynamics would be an advantage, but not essential.
Managing their own time on multiple projects at different stages, sometimes working to tight deadlines and prioritising workload.
Able to inspect incoming goods and outgoing goods ready for delivery against a technical drawing.
Have working experience of windows office based software.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Qualified to HNC/HND/Degree level.
Work with suppliers and customers to convert concepts into production by creating 3D models, technical drawings and BOM's using SolidWorks.
Review customer CAD models and work with them and suggest changes to ensure their design can be manufactured.
Working with and ensuring compliance of ISO9001-2015, making changes where necessary.
Compile PPAP documentation, including material certificates and inspection reports.
Manage the existing drawing archive and work closely with production for continuous improvement and updating legacy drawings.
When required, attend customer sites in the UK for initial enquiries and to address quality concerns.
Provide design and quality support to manufacturing to ensure deadlines are met whilst complying to the engineering drawings.
Inspect all incoming components against their drawings, reporting any errors directly to the supplier.
Work closely with customers to understand quality concerns by managing 8D reports and reviewing internal processes to resolve and improve the process from initial enquiry through to delivery.
