Management/Cost Accountant

Optima Professional Services are currently recruiting for a Management/Cost Accountant to join a high-tech specialist manufacturing organisation based in Sleaford, that supply highly engineered components for a number of sectors including aerospace, industrial, marine, offshore renewables, oil and gas, and autosport industries. Working closely with the Finance Director this role offers the opportunity for systems development and involvement within a dynamic team.

This is a broad role and responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation of the monthly management accounts, including in-depth analysis of production and spend from budget.

  • Cash flow forecasts and monitoring of bank balance.

  • Preparation of budgets at a company level.

  • Implementation and maintenance of a costing system.

  • Develop and prepare a monthly financial reporting pack.

  • Review product and customer profitability.

  • Challenge costings, assumptions, sample and scrap rates with operations.

  • Challenge the performance on hours, downtime and other non-chargeable time.

  • Monitor, analyse and report on the impact price/cost changes within the business.

  • Support with the development of forecasting, reporting and ERP enhancements.

  • Assistance with investment appraisal.

  • Review and develop the processes and controls relating to production and inventory.

  • Monthly WIP and inventory valuation and reconciliation to the general ledger ensuring that any differences are investigated and resolved in a timely manner.

  • Assist with weekly payroll and timesheet calculation.

  • Manage the Business Analyst within a small Finance Team.

  • Control the ledger function.

  • Ad-hoc analysis and reports as and when required.

Key Requirements - Skills / Experience

  • Manufacturing background experience preferred.

  • Advanced level in Excel and report writing.

  • Minimum 5 years Management Accounting / Cost Accounting experience.

  • Qualified in either AAT or MAAT, CIMA or ACCA.

  • Knowledge of Sage (version 24) and FactoryMaster ERP systems would be advantageous.

Competitive salary depending on experience

Working hours: 8 - 5 Mon - Thurs 8 - 1.30 Fri

£27,000–£27,000 per annum
