The Role
A job for a Controls Engineer has become available in the Leicester area. The Controls Engineer (CE) is a key member of the Engineering Team producing coding and systems to support the functionality and usability of CNC and automated machine systems. The role is site based in Leicestershire.
Essential Job Responsibilities
The CE performs the major functions listed below. The position may require additional duties/responsibilities that may not be outlined below, but this summarises the key points:
PLC Controller Programming
Programming, managing, and diagnosing communications between the CNC unit and Machine process control hardware on the EDM, Laser. Camera systems.
Develop control of I/O systems
User Interface / HMI programming
Basic troubleshooting of the control systems used in the production of cooling holes for Turbine blades etc.
Meeting Health and Human Services, Environmental Health and Safety and/or all other applicable regulatory requirements
The Candidate
Experience in control systems on machine tools
Knowledge industrial automation systems essential with specialist understanding and experience of Beckhoff control systems and hardware a distinct advantage.
Understand the principles behind automatic control, and how it operates. Knowing how to create open-loop and closed-loop control systems that enable the creation of bespoke and accurate control systems.
Logical and systematic approach to problem solving. Ability to share this with colleagues and customers alike.
Proficient level of other computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Good analytical, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate technical issues in an easy-to-understand manner.
The Control engineer should be particularly attentive, ensuring that any programming or functionality testing they complete is reliable.
Resourceful, with the ability to work independently.
Strong time management skills.
Ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
Decision-making, problem resolution and creative thinking skills
Ethical and trustworthy.
